Her career started in Mexico, where she starred in the television drama Teresa (1989-1991), and the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) that earned her an Ariel Award nomination. From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999), Dogma (1999) and Desperado (1995) were only a few of her many Hollywood credits. Hayek's performance as Frida painter in Frida (2002), which she also wrote in the film, resulted in Hayek the first Mexican actress to receive the Academy Award [6].
